Aluminium and Steel Rivets

Durable rivets for long-lasting sheet connections.

When a roofing or cladding installation calls for a permanent, vibration-resistant joint that holds without backing access, rivets are the fastener of choice. Aluminium and Steel Rivets from Astal Roofing Industries are manufactured from high-quality aluminium and steel to deliver reliable structural strength, consistent joint stability, and long-term performance across roofing sheet fixings, cladding panel assemblies, and secondary structural connections in industrial and commercial construction across India.

What Are Aluminium and Steel Rivets?

Rivets – specifically blind rivets or pop rivets – are single-side mechanical fasteners that create a permanent, load-bearing joint between two or more materials without requiring access to the reverse side of the assembly. A rivet gun drives the mandrel through the rivet body, which expands on the blind side to clamp the materials together – creating a joint that resists shear loads, vibration, and thermal movement far more reliably than screws in thin sheet-to-sheet connections.

For roofing and cladding applications, rivets are particularly valuable at sheet-to-sheet laps, accessory-to-sheet junctions, flashing connections, and trim fixings – where a neat, low-profile fastener is required on the visible face of the installation without a protruding screw head or washer assembly.

Each screw is fitted with a bonded EPDM rubber washer beneath a steel cap – compressing against the roofing sheet surface to create a watertight seal at every fixing point and preventing water from tracking down the fastener into the building structure below.

Aluminium Rivets vs Steel Rivets - Choosing the Right Material

Aluminium Rivets

Lightweight, naturally corrosion-resistant, and galvanically compatible with aluminium and PPGI/PPGL roofing sheets. Ideal for standard roofing, cladding, and trim fixings in most industrial and commercial environments across India.

Steel Rivets

Higher shear and tensile strength than aluminium equivalents – specified for structural assemblies, heavy-gauge cladding connections, and applications where higher mechanical loading requires a stronger fastener material.

Key Features & Technical Specifications

High-Quality Aluminium & Steel Construction

Manufactured from premium-grade aluminium alloy and carbon steel to deliver consistent mechanical properties – uniform shear strength, reliable mandrel break-load, and precise body expansion on the blind side – ensuring every rivet performs identically across large-volume installations.

Structural Strength & Joint Stability

The blind-side expansion of a correctly installed rivet creates a clamping force that distributes load across the full flange diameter – delivering superior joint stability compared to screws in thin sheet lap connections, and resisting the loosening and pull-through that can occur with screw fixings under repeated vibration or thermal cycling.

Corrosion-Resistant Performance

Aluminium rivets offer inherent corrosion resistance through natural oxide layer formation, while steel rivets are available with zinc or epoxy coating options – providing reliable protection at fixing points in the humid, coastal, and chemically active environments common across industrial sites in India.

Low-Profile, Clean Finish

The countersunk or dome head profile of a set rivet sits flush or near-flush against the roofing or cladding surface – delivering a neat, low-profile fixing point that does not interrupt the visual finish of the installed sheet or accessory, which matters on high-visibility façade and roofing applications.

Fast & Efficient Installation

Blind rivets require access from one side only and install in a single tool operation – significantly faster than bolt-and-nut assemblies for sheet lap and accessory fixing applications, reducing installation labour time and improving on-site productivity across large roofing and cladding areas.

Available in Multiple Sizes & Grip Ranges

Supplied in a range of rivet diameters, body lengths, and grip ranges to accommodate different material thicknesses and joint configurations – ensuring the correct rivet is specified for every fixing condition in the roofing, cladding, or structural assembly.

Applications

Roofing Sheets

Sheet-to-sheet lap fixings at side and end laps on corrugated, trapezoidal, and concealed-fix roofing profiles – creating a secure, weathertight overlap joint along the full roof length.

Cladding Panels

Fixing of wall cladding sheets at laps and junctions, and securing of cladding accessories, flashings, and trims to the primary cladding panel – maintaining panel alignment and weatherproofing continuity across large vertical façade areas.

Structural Assemblies

Used in secondary structural connections within pre-engineered buildings, modular structures, and light steel framing systems – where permanent, vibration-resistant joints are required between cold-formed steel members and infill panels.

Roofing Accessories & Trims

Fixing of ridge caps, eave trims, flashings, and barge boards to primary roofing sheets – providing a secure, low-profile fixing that maintains accessory alignment without protruding hardware on the finished roof surface.
